Today is my birthday.

And it's a landmark. Thats it, yesterday was my last day of ever being 29. My cuddly mummy called last night to wish me many happy returns and I have a wonderful day of gossiping with friends and doing crosswords ahead.
This is a wierd time of year for me. Having my birthday and Christmas so close together gives me a sense of loss. It is the only time of year that I yearn for my family, to be around those many Mums Dads and siblings who have to love me unconditionally.

I have many amazing birthday memories..... the time Mum stayed up for nights on end to sew me a beautiful new slip cover for my wendy house, embroidered flowers growing up the walls and the prettiest shingles on the roof. Or the time she piled all of us and my friends into the car as a suprise in our fancy dress costumes to go to santa's grotto. And the fairytale castle scenery she painted onto drop sheets on the walls.
I think maybe birthdays should be for Mums not babies, that way mine would have 5 very special days of the year that she deserves... I mean honestly.... imagine squeezing out a ridiculous creature like me!?! Isn't that cause for celebration?

Dear Steph,
wishing you the most happiness for your day today, it was a pleasure to hang out in the shop, chatting, giggling, watching you work your magic, you certainly have a great gift for sewing, and the wonderful rapport you have with the customers. I wish you the very best for the year ahead.
It was so lovely to be part of the celebrations, the 'surprise' by little Pepper and her mum Kate (what wonderful friends to have!)and the stream of wellwishers, and although your family are far away, I think there may be many who would gladly adopt you as their own, you are SO loved! xxxx

Hi. I met you very briefly today at the makers market. I'm the one who fell in love with the 'for display purposes only' bunting, lol. If you used to be a city dweller you may've met me in my other life. :) However,I follow the makers market blog & have my photo on that so that's probably why my face looked familiar. :) Congratulations on making it to 30. I struggled with it too..... mine was a 'this is not where I planned to be at 30' meltdown, ha, ha, ha. Now that I'm 33, I laugh. So far my 30s have been better than my teens and 20s, I finally accept myself for who I am and other peoples negative opinions of me genuinely don't affect me... as much. :) Ciao for now. :)
